Message from Vice-Chancellor

Dear aspiring students,

I take this opportunity of welcoming you all to the University of Delhi, a premier Institute for higher education in India.

It gives me immense pride and pleasure to share with you that our university, established and incorporated in 1922 through an Act of the then Central Legislative Assembly, will complete its hundred glorious years on 1st May 2022. The University, which comprised three Colleges with 750 students in 1922, has expanded to 90 Colleges, 16 Faculties, and 86 Academic Departments spread over 407 acres across Delhi with a student strength of more than 7 lakhs, reflecting a microcosm of the diversity in India.

The University is a premier university in the country as per the national and international rankings. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the year 2021, places the University at 12th rank among universities. As per the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR), the National Rank of the University of Delhi is 6th for 2021-22. The Times Higher Education Asia University Ranking of the University is 201-250 (released in June 2021). QS World University Ranking of the University is 501-510 (2022), QS India Ranking (2021) of the University is 6th among Indian educational institutions and universities, and the QS Asia University Ranking (2022) is 77.
